Who Else Wants To Get Busted By An Undercover Holiday Elf?

Monday, January 23rd, 2012

Here’s an interesting fact: If you were driving in December and saw an elf –and you didn’t slow down, you were in trouble. The Orange County Sheriff’s Office (in Florida) hatched a new plan to stop speeders. And it’s unlike anything you have probably seen before.

Here’s how it worked: a sheriff’s officer standing on the side of the road DRESSED AS AN ELF and clocked cars using a radar gun and then radioed ahead to a motorcycle deputy to stop the speeders and give them a ticket.

Did it work? I’d say so. More than 150 tickets were written in just over two hours. But, some people thought the “elf disguise” just wasn’t right, and complained about using a holiday icon to trick speeders. In response to complaints, Ken Wyne of the Orange County Sheriff’s Office said, “We didn’t choose a nativity scene. We chose an elf. An elf is known for their impish behavior. If you’re going to speed in Orange County, you never know who’s going to be on the street corner.” Who else wants to see the Easter Bunny arresting muggers? Now that’s something they should have on pay-per-view!

All kidding aside, many have the wrong attitude about this elf speeding sting operation. And here’s why. They think they are being tricked into getting a ticket. When the truth is: If you speed… and only slow down when you actually see a police officer… you are eventually going to get caught. It’s plain and simple odds. It’s the same when it comes to selecting the right doctors or chiropractor to work on your back condition.

Selecting the correct doctor for your spine problem is imperative. Selecting the wrong doctor all the time will only get you in trouble. At New Century Spine Centers in San Diego, the chiropractors are some of the best in the field and specialize in treating back conditions with advanced therapies like spinal decompression therapy.

The Holiday Effect On Fibromyalgia

Wednesday, September 29th, 2010

Anyone suffering from fibromyalgia knows how painful and depressing life can be.  At New Century Spine Centers in San Diego, fibromyalgia is a common ailment that many people come in for. Many fibromyalgia patients who come in for chiropractic care also know how misunderstood this condition can be. Until you suffer with fibromyalgia, it is difficult to really understand the true effects on a person.

But, with the help of modern research (and a little care and understanding) some doctors are starting to gain more and more knowledge about the causes, diagnosis and treatment. It is not a condition that is completely misunderstood anymore.

For example, in a 558 chronic pain patient study, the American College of Rheumatology found that they could accurately identify which patients had fibromyalgia, at an 88% accuracy level. This supports that fibromyalgia can be accurately diagnosed and may not be “all in your head” as many doctors previously thought.

It was also found that many people can have fibromyalgia with less than the previously required 11 tender points as long as they have widespread pain and many of these symptoms: fatigue, diarrhea, constipation, sleeping problems, chronic headache, jaw (TMJ) pain, memory problems, muscle pain, morning stiffness, menstrual cramping, numbness and tingling, dizziness, skin and chemical sensitivities.

Stress has long been theorized to be a major factor in fibromyalgia. And starting a new year and the upcoming holidays that come along with it is one of the most stressful times of the year.

Like all doctors’ offices, care may vary from office to office. So if you are looking for a Chiropractor who offers short term, affordable fibromyalgia care, or if you have questions, call New Century Chiropractic in San Diego. The chiropractors at New Century Spine Centers can help you get your life back on track and eliminate the pain and suffering associated with fibromyalgia. You can be seen immediately with no obligation to extensive treatment plans.

Suffering From Headaches? End The Suffering.

Friday, March 12th, 2010

Headaches are one of the more common conditions that enter the offices of primary care physicians, including medical doctors and doctors of chiropractic. As you know, the standard medical treatment revolves around the use of pharmaceuticals and/or injections.
The standard chiropractic treatment approach includes manual therapies such as spinal manipulation or adjustments, manual or mechanical cervical traction, mobilization techniques, trigger point therapy, physiological therapeutics such as electrical stimulation, ultrasound, etc., and nutritional counseling. While both approaches have pros and cons, there are far less negative side effects associated with the chiropractic treatment option.
There are many types of headaches, which can be generally classified as primary or secondary:
Primary Headaches: 1.Migraine; 2. Tension-type; 3. Cluster headaches. Secondary headaches occur because some other condition or injury is present such as after a car accident or slip and fall injury, due an infection, a sinus, jaw, and/or dental condition, a vascular injury such as stroke, a medication side effect, psychiatric disorder and others.
Find yourself frequently utilizing over-the-counter medications such as an anti inflammatory (ibuprofen: Advil, Nuprin; Naprosyn such as Aleve) or Tylenol,?

It is probable that chiropractic approach will provide relief for your headaches. Frequently, with headache patients, the vertebrae in the upper neck lose their normal range of motion and the muscles that attach to the base of the skull become overly tight and squeeze or compress the nerves feeding into the head. This results in pain that radiates over the top or around the head, sometimes into the eyes. Conservative Gentle Chiropractic care restores the vertebral range of motion, which in turn reduces the muscle tension and subsequent nerve compression, resulting in a reduction of headache pain! If you’ve also noticed stiffness in your neck, then give us a call. We offer short term affordable relief care for your headache. Explore this option. There is no obligation to receive care.
